The long awaited moment when the peony blooms, is a symbol of all that is fragile and beautiful and worth all our patience. "For Sarah Bernhardt" is named for the glorious pale pink "Sarah Bernhardt Peony", the namesake of the French Actress from the 1920s often depicted in wonderful sepia photographs.
Print 2: Spring Peonies.
This playful peony is full of movement and evokes the danceof light that these fragile flowers perform as they sway on their long stems.
Print 3: Golden Light. Inspired by the time of afternoon when the light hits just right and the shadows dance. Based on my sketches from Vermont when I lived in a little town, and often looked at the cottage next door from my window.
Print 4: La Vie en Rose. A charming New England Cottage covered in Roses is a symbol of retreat and peaceful reflection. This painting is based on sketches I made when living in a white house in a small Vermont town.
